La pipe de cidre

July 13, 2010

Reading Octave Mirbeau’s La pipe de cidre. This is the first Mirbeau book that seems a bit sub-par. It is a collection of short stories, the best one (title story) being about a fellow who puts the body of a Prussian soldier in a barrel of cider:

“It’s certainly good. . . . It’s good cider . . . but . . . but it’s curious. It has a taste . . . almost like shoes . . .”

    July 2, 2010

An excellent review of Metrophilias at the Innsmouth Free Press. I felt that this reviewer really got the book and my intentions.

One quote from the review: “I adored it, from its glossy cover to its cool demeanour, from its poetry to the fire in the hearts of its characters.”
